“COACH Os CORNER”
2018 6’0ft Jamal Hartwell is the key to unlocking Fairfax Lions chance of regaining City Dominance and winning State title this season. Considered by many as one of the top unsigned senior PGs in the country, Jamal has used that as fuel to drive his game to new heights.
Blessed with high major burst and speed, Jamal has added a deadly pull up game unmatched in the high school ranks. While most players are emulating Steph Curry and skipping steps, Jamal’s midrange game is as good as it gets. I like to call it the ‘Midrange Lay Up’, which is a necessary component to being an effective ‘undersize’ guard. Couple that with his ability to live in the paint and nifty floaters and finishes, Jamal is handful to say the least.
After spending his first two years learning from Legendary High School coach, Harvey Kitani, Jamal has been blessed to be able to finish off his career under Coach Steve Baik. Coach Baik previous stop was at Chino Hills where he lead that program to an undefeated season and coached the number 1 PG in the country Lonzo Ball.
Jamal is joined in the backcourt with Ethan Anderson and Robert McCrae, forming one the most dominant guard tandems in the country. I look forward to watching these compete and put the CITY back on the map.
